September is Love Your Library Month (LYL). This year’s contributions will again support our campaign to bring our historic building into the modern era, making it more cost- and energy-efficient and accessible. Community support, most importantly demonstrated by the number of donations, is critical to our efforts to solicit larger gifts from institutional support sources like state grants, foundations, and corporate donors for a project of this magnitude. Since 2020, community members like you have made 390 individual gifts of various sizes to raise a total of $141,600 for the renovation campaign. That’s a lot of community support to pair with the over $1.9 Million in institutional support we’ve secured toward the renovation costs of $3.45 Million.
Like last year, the Jack Buncher Foundation partially matches each donor’s gift up to $500 to Allegheny County Libraries during Love Your Library Month. When you donate in September, your gift will go so much further.
Individual gifts from the community are necessary and persuasive. Our goal for Love Your Library 2022 is $25,000. It’s a stretch from last year, but we know we can do it with your support. Our continued commitment of LYL funds to this renovation project is vital to accumulating the match we need to access the entire $1.5 Million award from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) state grant.
